Intervention’s details

Pre-op

The intervention is carried out in a ritual setting under local anesthesia. As with any intervention, a pre-operative assessment is necessary a few days before the operation. (TP, TCA, Platelets and if necessary, coagulation factors)

Surgical technique

The intervention consists of removal of the foreskin, which leaves the glans uncovered, more or less completely. Absorbable stitches are put in place. Most often, the frenulum of the foreskin is cut and sutured during the procedure.

Usual follow-up

The pain in the operated area is usually minimal, temporary and can relieved by painkillers. The glans uneasiness may persist for several days, since it’s permanently uncovered.

Healing schedule

Healing requires 2 to 4 weeks:

Local care is prescribed for a few days.

The suture threads fall out spontaneously, within an average period of 2 to 4 weeks on average.

The practitioner specifies how long baths should be avoided and the date the child is authorized normal activities.
